How this works

The rules the register and the summary are worked out from. Every figure below is read from the app's own settings, so this page cannot drift away from what it describes.

The working day

On time
An arrival at or before 8:30 AM. At the cutoff exactly is still on time.
Late
Any arrival after it, marked L. Lateness is counted on the register but costs no leave.
Weekend
Friday and Saturday. A weekend worked becomes P rather than an ordinary day.
Holidays
6 days marked as holidays in 2026, and 2 weekends declared a working day. Both are set on the Holidays screen and both override the weekly pattern.

What the marks mean

blank Here, on time. The commonest state, and the one the grid keeps quiet.
Llate An arrival after the cutoff. Counted, but it costs no leave.
Aabsent A working day with nobody here. This is the only mark that draws down leave.
Hhalf day Recorded for the record. Costs nothing and moves no figure.
Rremote Worked, from somewhere else. Not leave, and not an absence.
Pextra duty An off-day that was worked. Time given back, not time taken.
Joinjoined The first day of employment. Days before it are shaded, not blank.
Endleft The first day after employment ended.

Absence

A finished working day with no arrival recorded is an absence. That inference only holds once arrivals are actually being collected โ€” before then, silence meant nothing, so an absence has to be written down rather than guessed at.

Arrivals have been collected since 2026-07-28. Before that date a quiet day is left blank, and the absences on record come from the sheet this replaced.

Leave

Allotment
20 days a year, pro-rated by the days actually spent on the payroll: joining or leaving mid-year reduces it in proportion, rounded up to the nearest half day.
Probation
Nominally 3 months from joining, set per person. Leave does not accrue during probation, and an absence taken during it does not draw down the allotment โ€” it comes off salary instead. The last day of probation is still inside it; accrual starts the day after.
What draws it down
Only A, and only after probation. Half days, remote days, lateness and extra duty all leave the balance where it is.
Going over
The balance is allowed to go negative and is shown as such. It is a fact about the year, not an error to be hidden.

Times

A departure is always shown, because it is always a measurement. An arrival that was on time is not shown: the door's one-tap on-time button records the cutoff when the admin reaches a card after it, so that minute may stand in for an arrival nobody witnessed. The blank cell says what the register knows โ€” here, on time โ€” and no more. Every raw time as recorded is on the Punches screen.

People who have left

A leaver keeps their row for the rest of the year they worked, greyed, with the date they went. Their leave was taken and the year still has to add up. They drop off the summary of their own accord when it turns over, and off the door the day after their last.

The record

Nothing on the register is stored. Punches, the calendar and any written-down corrections are stored; every mark and every total is worked out again from those each time a page is asked for, so a figure here can never disagree with the times underneath it. Corrections are recorded in the audit log, which is hash-chained โ€” an entry cannot be altered afterwards without breaking every entry that follows it.
